Product Description: This World War II Pilot pencil topper is made from lead-free pewter and is a 3D model of a pilot in flying uniform. It is supplied on a 13cm blue wooden pencil with an image of a Spitfire next to the inscription "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few – Winston Churchill" printed on it in silver.

Information: The typical pilot's flying uniform during World War II consisted of a combination of specialised garments designed for protection and comfort. Pilots wore a leather flying jacket made of sheepskin, which offered insulation against high altitudes and the cold. Underneath, they wore a wool shirt, paired with a tie, and a woollen undershirt for added warmth. The uniform also included trousers made from wool, and leather flying boots that provided protection for their feet. A leather flying helmet with goggles and an oxygen mask completed the ensemble.

Winston Churchill's iconic speech, delivered on August 20, 1940, during the Battle of Britain, highlighted the contributions of the Royal Air Force (RAF) pilots who defended Britain against the German Luftwaffe. Churchill proclaimed, "Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few," acknowledging the bravery and sacrifice of the relatively small number of fighter pilots who valiantly defended the nation against overwhelming odds.
