Product Description: This Lancaster pin badge is made from lead-free pewter that is 22ct gold plated and is supplied on a pin with separate clasp. The pin badge is mounted on an information card that has an image of two Avro Lancaster Bombers on the front and has information about the Avro Lancaster on the reverse.

Information: The Avro Lancaster was Bomber Command’s most famous bomber during World War Two. It was heavily armed with eight 0.303 machine guns in various turrets and a bomb bay in the plane which could carry various size bombs, including the ‘Grand Slam’ weighing in at 22,000lbs. The first prototype flew on January 9th 1941 with the first production Lancaster flying in October 1941. Lancasters took part in many raids on Germany in World War Two, including the bombing of the ‘Tirpitz’ (November 1944) holed up in a Norwegian fjord and the most famous bombing raid by Lancasters the 'Dambuster Raids'.
