Information: This finger ring would have been given as a gift of love. It is inscribed on the inside with the words 'amore vole fe' which translated means 'Love cannot exist without fidelity'. In Tudor times the most common types of jewellery were rings, brooches, bracelets, necklaces and earrings. These were made from gold, silver and bronze.

Mary I (1516-1558) was Queen of England from 1553 until her death in 1558. She was the daughter of King Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon. Mary became known as "Bloody Mary" because of the persecutions she caused. More than 300 people were burned at the stake during her reign. Mary died childless and was succeeded on the throne by her half-sister, Elizabeth.
