Product Description: This Roman Thimble is made from lead-free pewter that is bronze plated. It is supplied with a full-colour information card that has Roman images on the front. There is also historical information which explains about the first thimbles. The thimble and folded card are supplied in a clear box.
Information: The earliest known thimble was Roman. It was found at Pompeii and has been dated to the 1st century AD. It could have been used to sew linen, cotton or fine silks. These thimbles were made from bronze with the pounce marks punched in afterwards.
