Roman SPQR Enamelled Pin Badge

Product Description: This Roman SPQR Enamelled pin badge is made from metal that is gold and has red enamelling highlights. It is supplied on a pin with separate clasp. The Roman Eagle would have been displayed on a standard and has SPQR (the Senate and the People of Rome) inscribed on the base. The pin badge is mounted on an information card that has a Roman standard on the front with a key design down the sides. The card describes the origins of Rome on the reverse.

Information: Rome was originally a small town on the banks of the Tiber River in the west of Italy. Though Rome owed its prosperity to trade in the early years, it was war which would make the city a powerful force in the ancient world. The Roman army battled first against its tribal neighbours and Etruscan towns within Italy, and later came to dominate the Mediterranean and at its height the provinces of Britannia and Asia Minor.

With this conquest came new Roman laws, roads, architecture, coins, cloths and jewellery.
