Product Description: This Roman Medusa pendant is made from lead-free pewter. The medusa pendant is supplied on a silver chain. Medusa was the most famous of the monster figures known as Gorgons. She was usually represented as a winged female creature having a head of hair consisting of snakes. The pendant is mounted on a fold-over information card, which has an image of a gold coin and the head of Medusa on the front with a key design down each side. On the reverse it describes how ornate Roman jewellery was initially rare and that it had influences from other cultures.

Information: This beautiful hand cast range has been inspired by the jewellery designs found in ancient Rome. Ornate jewellery was rare due to the lack of gold but as the Empire expanded its trade routes and armies conquered other nations precious metals and stones became readily available.

Roman jewellery was generally made of gold or silver and was created with Greek and Etruscan influences. New designs were derived from other cultures and remained well established during the Roman period.
