Product Description: This 3.8cm tall Owl of Minerva is made from resin that is painted with an antique bronze finish. It is supplied with a full-colour information card that has an image of a Greek / Roman style owl taken from a coin. There is also historical information which explains about how the owl was a symbol of the goddess Minerva. The owl and folded card are supplied in a clear box.

Information: Minerva was the Roman goddess of wisdom and of war. The owl was the symbol of her wisdom.

Minerva herself was derived from the Greek goddess Athena, who is often portrayed with her owl. Many Roman deities are directly taken from Greek predecessors.

The image on the packaging is from an original Greek coin minted in Athens. It shows an owl standing with an olive sprig above and the letters AOE to the right.

The owl was Athens (Athena’s) sacred bird and the olive tree was Athena’s sacred plant. The inscription "AOE" is translated as "of the Athenians".
