Information: Richard III’s rule was only very short. He ruthlessly seized the crown and became King on 26 June 1483. On the 22 August 1485, he was struck down at the battle of Bosworth, fighting Henry Tudor’s army.

The white boar was Richard III’s emblem during the Wars of the Roses. Many of his supporters wore a boar badge to demonstrate their loyalty to the king. Precious metal badges were reserved for the King’s most important and powerful allies. This boar has a chain and collar around its neck. It wears a crown and has a heraldic crescent symbol above its front legs.
