Product Description: The Medieval Colouring Postcards consists of four A5 size colouring cards and six colouring pencils. The cards include an image of two knights in a jousting battle, an attack on a castle using a catapult, knights in hand-to-hand combat and a poster depicting a medieval town scene. On the reverse of each card is an area to write a message, an address and to affix a stamp as well as educational information about the images on each card. There is a colourful header card that has pictures showing how the cards could be coloured in and all are held in a clear cellophane bag.

Information: The skills and techniques used in jousting were also used in combat. In jousting tournaments mounted knights would unhorse their opponents by striking them with the end of their jousting lance while riding towards them at high speed. This is known as 'tilting'.

In the European Middle Ages, virtually all large cities had city walls. Besieging armies used a wide variety of siege engines including: scaling ladders, battering rams, siege towers and various types of catapults to gain entry into these cities.

Medieval knights would fight each other wearing armour and chain mail to protect them. A knight’s sword was his most important weapon but he also could use a club called a mace or a battle-axe. Medieval armies consisted of knights, both mounted and on foot, spearman and archers.

Medieval towns held markets at least once a week in the square, where stalls were set up and local merchants would sell their wares. Fairs might also be held but only once or twice a year. These fairs would attract strolling minstrels, performing tumblers and acrobats, and animal acts with trained bear.
