Information: Elizabeth I was Queen of England from 1558 until her death in 1603, and is one of the most famous monarchs in English history. She is known for her successful rule, which brought stability and prosperity to England during a time of religious and political turmoil. Elizabeth I was a masterful politician and strategist, who managed to balance the competing interests of the English nobility, the Catholic and Protestant factions, and the international powers of Europe. She also presided over a flourishing of arts and literature, known as the Elizabethan era, which produced some of the greatest works in English literature.

Elizabeth I never married and maintained her independence, but her reign also saw the rise of England as a global power and laid the foundations for the modern British state.
