Product Description: This Interlaced Cross pendant is made from lead-free pewter. The cross is supplied on a waxed cord. The pendant is mounted on an information card, which has a knot work image on the front and on the reverse describes about Celtic art and the interlaced knot design.

Information: Celtic art displays a richness of colour, intricacy and symbolism to equal that of the world’s finest styles of religious art. It was born of the Druidic religion and the oral traditions of the Celtic people, especially those who inhabited Britain and Ireland from the seventh century. Irish smiths of the 700’s showed great skill in decorating chalices, reliquaries (shrines for keeping relics of saints) and brooches. The 1100’s were one of the finest periods of Irish metalwork. The chief objects that have survived from that time are the shrine of the arm of St Lachtin and the Cross of Cong, made in the 1120’s for the King of Connacht.

The interlaced knot work patterns with their unbroken lines symbolise the process of man’s eternal spiritual growth.
