Viking

The English Vikings, originating from the Scandinavian regions of present-day Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, were seafaring Norse warriors who began raiding and eventually settling in parts of what is now modern-day England during the late 8th century and early 9th century. Known for their intricate craftsmanship, they crafted distinctive jewellery and metalwork, often using materials like silver and bronze, featuring intricate geometric patterns, animal motifs, and runic inscriptions. The English Vikings engaged in numerous battles, including the famous Battle of Stamford Bridge in 1066, where they clashed with the Anglo-Saxon forces of King Harold Godwinson before facing defeat at the Battle of Hastings later that year, which marked the beginning of Norman rule in England.
